Halloween was yesterday and I had a blast. For the first time in a while I actually dressed up and had some fun with it. I’m not a big fan of masks and full body suits, they never look quite right to me. I am however a big fan of the different gore effects using latex moldings and other things. I like things to look as real as possible and this year I went a little nuts with it. Now that I have the hang of working with the liquid latex and I know how to make it work well I’m going to go nuts next year.
This year I was a vampire, it’s difficult to see the best parts of the costume in the pictures below but I basically had a fake gunshot wound on my forehead and bite marks on my neck. When I took these pictures I hadn’t put in the teeth yet or the blood capsules in the mouth. I learned that if you’re going to do the fake blood make sure that it is dried on you before you go out, it looks better and makes the latex overlays blend better and look more realistic (by the end of the night the blood had dried and blended the latex well so people were asking me if I did them myself and commenting about how they looked so real). Also for the teeth, use the individual vampire teeth that simply fit over your canine teeth in your mouth (don’t use the full mouth chompers, they look fake)… But don’t use the stuff that comes with the teeth to hold them in, use some fixadent (the stuff for dentures) and a very small dot of it. The first time I tried using it I put too much and had to brush my teeth to get the fixadent out. The pictures are okay but they don’t nearly do it justice, it was awesome and probably my favourite halloween costume I’ve ever put together.
I left my camera at home on accident, so I didn’t get any other pics besides these. Kaleigh went as a fairy and looked cute.
